The Knights of Columbus is a global Catholic fraternal organization founded in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney in New Haven, Connecticut. The organization was created to provide financial support to families in need, especially widows and children, and to promote charitable works and Catholic values. Today, it has grown into one of the largest Catholic organizations in the world, with over 2 million members.

The local chapter here at Francis DeSales Church (Ajax, Ontario) is COUNCIL 6161 - also known as Father J.T. Bolger.

Mission

The Knights of Columbus aims to offer members and their families opportunities in support of the Catholic Church, their communities, families and youth.

Vision

The Knights of Columbus vision is centered on promoting Catholic principles through charity, unity, and fraternity. The organization aims to engage in charitable works, support the Church, aid those in need, and contribute to the well-being of its members and their families. This is achieved through educational, religious, and social welfare initiatives, as well as providing financial assistance and insurance.
